Brain Training Q & A

What is Brain Training?

The ability of the human brain to adapt, learn new skills, store memories, and even heal from a cognitive impairment, which is known as neuroplasticity.

Brain training is the process of teaching the brain to learn appropriate brain patterns that help it to function more efficiently.

Every time the brain produces good brainwaves the computer rewards the brain with audio clues such as dings or visual incentives such as brightening the screen. Eventually, the brain learns to control these processes without being monitored.

Self-regulation is an essential aspect of brain health. Brain training is all about training the brain to self-regulate itself. It involves applying the feedback that we receive through EEG directly to the brain. This self-regulation training allows the central nervous system to function better, as we promote helpful frequencies and diminish harmful ones.

How does Brain Training work?

Non-invasive sensors are used to measure brain waves, as the patient watches visual content or plays a video game that encourages cognitive response. The process can be broken down into the following steps:

  • Electrodes are attached to your head to monitor brain activity.
  • The data is fed into the computer that extracts vital information on brainwave frequencies.
  • Based on the data received, specific areas in the brain are the target.
  • This process is repeated to retrain the brain.
  • Brain activity is shaped over time to be more productive and perform in a regulated manner.

Why do you need Brain training?

Our brain is able to self-regulate itself, similar to a car’s automatic gearbox that adjusts the power in the engine depending on the circumstances. It works when we are young as our brain is able to regulate our state of being (behavior, thoughts, emotions, and body sensations). However, as we grow old the brain finds it more difficult to regulate itself because our feedback mechanisms in the brain do not work well.

As a result, the brain loses its ability to self-regulate itself, this results in brain waves going out of tune due to old age or trauma caused by accidents. When the brain doesn’t function properly it affects your ability to speak, maintain balance, clarity of thought, emotional stability & focus, and attention.

Brain training helps regain control over your brain, as different parts of your brain work together in a synchronized and harmonious manner.

We understand how the ability to improve cognitive weaknesses, rerouting thought patterns, and breaking emotional habits can change people’s life. That’s why we have designed a leading-edge brain training program that harnesses the brain's potential for change by training your brain to function at an optimum level.

Are the effects of brain training long-term?

According to research, patients' gains from Brain training are reliably maintained. Several types of research that studied the effects of Brain training at the end of therapy found that, when people practice what they learned during Brain training treatment, they progressed even more.

Is the process painful?

No, the electrodes used to measure brain activity are totally non-intrusive.

How many sessions do I need?

Brain training sessions range from 30 to 40 minutes on average. We recommend scheduling at least two sessions a week for 2 months for optimal results.

Can I continue medication throughout the therapy period?

You can take any prescribed drug as directed by your physician, during your Brain training program.

Can I do Brain Training at home?

Yes. We have remote devices that can be used for brain training at home. Our office will provide you assistance for setup and technical support.

Is this covered by insurance?

Yes, we accept Medicare and PPO plans.
